First of all let’s say, forgiving is not an easy process. Our minds are not programmed to instantly break through the intricate web of feelings which overcome us when we are wronged. Most of the time we look for ways to escape the pain rather to deal with it We become angry, we blame, we accuse, but ultimately to receive relief from our pain we must forgive. We will only begin to forgive when we see others as ourselves and know the situation could easily be reversed because of our common humanity. Few of us will escape this type of pain in our lifetime. This emotional pain can be as debilitating as physical pain. Forgiveness becomes the only remedy for the pain. Forgiveness is the key that sets us free from the prison of pain and anger and gives us strength and wisdom for the future. If we ever hope to live fully we must learn the fine art of forgiveness.
